And so the day comes

Once again we find ourselves pushing the 20th hour of a working day, all pumped on adrenaline, getting ready for release. Only this is no ordinary in-house release. This time we go live. It’s what we’ve been working towards and longing after for the past 8 moths. This is it.

Almost a year ago I was encouraged to release a tool that had done nothing but gather dust for a long time. My friend and then colleague Philip Klevestav was the real driving force behind it all. If altruism had a face, it would look like Philip. He whipped together content and tutorials, and everything needed for an official release.

It was nerve-wracking. My stuff was not near worthy of the amazing artists out there, and in no way could it compete with the polished user experiences of other industry tools. But Philip thought otherwise. And so, with his encouragement, we released it together. I did not dare speculate in what would happen next.

In this instant, that exact moment of uncertainty is being relived. How will it be received? What reactions will we wake up to? Will we get any reactions at all?

Although this time something is a little different. This time I feel proud of what we will release. This time I feel we’ve made it how I always wished for it to be made. This was worth quitting our jobs for. We are Quixel now, and we’re proud of having taken the step. Waqar, Kristofer and Teddy, we made this together.

We’re pushing 21 hours now. Never have I worked 21 hours and still felt this alert. It’s time. Time to face the music, be it major or minor.
